Tips on Keeping Holiday Spending In-Check

It’s easy to go overboard with spending during the holiday season, especially when you’re really in the spirit of things!

But if you don’t want to have moments with your face in your hands in January, then this blog post is for you!

Establish your spending budget

The first thing to do is to determine your budget. How much should you really be spending (or not).

Don’t go into debt for it

The second thing is to not stack up credit card debt! Plain and simple!

If you’re using your credit cards and plan on paying it off right away – like for cash back or rewards – then this point won’t apply to you.

It’s the thought that counts

Think of something you can create yourself. It could be something meaningful, maybe even handmade – that will cost you next to nothing.

Of course it’s nice to have expensive gifts, but impressing people at the detriment of your finances is not really for the best.

Plan better for next year

If you dislike the fact that you’re scrambling to put things together then take a moment to determine how much you ideally want be able to spend. Once you have that number, break it down to monthly payments going into a savings account dedicated for gift giving.

For example:
If you want to save $1,200
Then save $100 per month
In 12 months, the money will already be there!

Happy Holidays!
